spacious, restored apt. in historic district (306 W. Locust) $700 1bd 2010-03-18

I am restoring and remodeling the Bayless House built in the 1860's. Bayless was the founder and president of the Bayless business college in Dubuque. I have the ground floor apt. ready to go with new carpeting, paint, tile, furnace, etc.. The house has been totally rewired electrically and includes interconnected smoke detectors, GFI and arc fault circuit breakers and tamper proof outlets. I was going to ask $800 but I am reducing that to $700. I know this is still on the expensive side but if you see it you know it is worth it. The apt. has a "great room"(12 ft x 30 ft) with ten foot ceilings, a focal point fireplace (non functioning) and original plaster frieze. Because I wanted to keep this great room original and intact this spacious 900 sq. ft. apt. has only one bed room. If you entertain then you must see this apt. The building is within walking distance of down town.

My name is Tim Toomey and I am from Iowa City where I specialize in historic preservation and restoration. I came across this building on the net in need of restoration. I stay in Dubuque during the week and work on the building so if you want to you can drop by and see the apt. any time Mon. through Fri. or call me. My phone number is (319) 621-0510.

I am still working on the second floor, two bed room apt. and two, one bed room efficiencies on the third floor and hope to have them ready to rent soon.
